Get your first real users by sharing promo codes

Updated October 26, 2026

GetFree is a directory where indie developers give promo codes for their apps to people who want to try them. You submit the app and a batch of codes. Users claim a code, install the app, and leave a review.

Submit your app

How it works

  • Create a developer account and submit your app with its store link and a short description. Add screenshots if you have them.
  • Add a batch of promo codes. Apple and Google both let you generate them in the store console.
  • People browse GetFree, claim a code, and redeem it in the store.
  • You get installs, ratings and written reviews from people who chose to try the app.

What you get

  • A public page for your app, indexed by search engines, with your store links.
  • Reviews and upvotes from the users who claimed a code.
  • A developer dashboard for your submitted apps, codes and reviews.

Who it suits

Indie developers launching a paid or freemium app who need the first hundred users and honest reviews. It also suits an older app that has stalled and needs a fresh round of ratings.

It is a weaker fit if you need a guaranteed volume of downloads on a fixed date. Promo-code directories send curious early adopters, and the numbers depend on the app and the offer.

Cost

Submitting is free while GetFree is in beta. Current terms for later are on the pricing page.

Tips for a good listing

  • Say what the app does in the first sentence, in plain words.
  • Show real screenshots from the app, not mockups.
  • Offer a code that gives full access, so reviewers see the whole app.
  • Answer reviews. People who get a reply are more likely to update a rating.

Questions

Is it free to submit an app?

Yes, during the beta. Check the pricing page for what applies after that.

Which platforms can I list?

iOS, Android, web and Mac apps.

How many codes should I add?

A batch large enough that people do not hit an empty page. Add more when it runs low.

Will this get me thousands of downloads?

No promise. It puts your app in front of people who look for free premium apps. Results depend on the app, the listing and the offer.

Is this like AppSumo or AppRaven?

It sits closer to AppRaven than AppSumo, but it is built around developer-submitted promo codes. See the comparison pages.
